Idaho Pasture Pigs
-dedicated to excellence-
Click below to learn why we love them:
+ THRIVE ON PASTURE
IPPs were selectively bred to be ideal for pasture-based farms. Their short, upturned snout gives them the ability to graze and rooting is minimal. They require less supplemental grain than larger traditional breeds which lowers off-farm costs and produces a healthier pork that is lower in inflammatory omega 6’s and is higher in omega 3's, CLA, vitamins and nutrients.
+ MATERNAL INSTINCTS
They are docile, attentive mothers with vigorous, well-growing piglets. Our sows average 10-12 piglets per litter and farrow twice per year. We select for ease of farrowing, a minimun of 12 teats, and generous milk supply.
+ GENTLE TEMPERAMENTS
Both boars and sows have gentle, loving, easy going temperaments; perfect for homesteads and small farms. We love that our children can help care for our piggos without worrying about them being aggressive❤️
+ HARDY & RESILIENT
They thrive year-round on pasture; they have a thick coat of hair that protects them from sunburn and biting insects in the summer and keeps them warm during harsh winter weather.
+ IDEAL MARKET WEIGHT
They reach 250-300lbs and are ready for processing at 8-10 months.
+ A TRUE GRAZING PIG
Their ability to thrive and grow on a forage-based diet without destroying our pasture is incredible! We've found that our IPPs ecologically benefit our land more than any other species we've raised.
+ EXCEPTIONAL MEAT QUALITY
Their pork is red, well-marbled, and FLAVORFUL; perfect for those that appreciate old-world pork!
